Let the light of your face shine on us, O Lord,
that your Word may go forth
and give light and understanding
to nourish the hearts of the simple.
Set our desires on your commandments,
so that we may receive with open heart
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding.
O God, the Father almighty,
shine on us with the light of your knowledge,
and the fullness of all virtue,
that, while we seek for the gifts of learning,
we may never depart from you,
the Fountain of all wisdom;
through Jesus Christ,
your Son, our Lord.
Amen.
A Coptic Christian inscription.O Lord our God,
you are great, eternal,
and wonderful in glory.
You keep your covenant and promises
for those who love you
with their whole heart.
You are the Life of all,
the Help of those who flee to you,
the Hope of those who cry to you.
Cleanse us from our sins,
secret and open,
and from every thought displeasing to your goodness.
Cleanse our bodies and souls,
our hearts and consciences,
that with a pure heart and a clear soul,
with perfect love and calm hope,
we may venture confidently
and fearlessly to pray to you;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
Note:
“…through Jesus Christ our Lord” was added, both because it completes the prayer and it points to the source of the love, cleansing and fearlessness.
O Christ, our Lord and our eternal Redeemer,
as we follow you and share in your sufferings,
fill us with your Holy Spirit,
that we subdue the old self to the new,
and the new self to you,
and at last share the glory of your resurrection;
through your mercy, O our God,
you are blessed,
and live and govern all things,
now and forever.
Amen.
O Lord, our God,
you have commanded us
to speak righteousness,
and to judge fairly;
Grant that no sin may be found in our mouths,
nor wickedness in our minds,
but that, from pure hearts,
we may speak those things that are right;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
O God, you alone are holy,
by your grace you have purified the unholy,
and have written our names in heaven.
Continue to sanctify us by your Spirit
and cleanse us from every spot of sin,
that we may live to your glory;
through Jesus Christ,
our most blessed Lord and Savior.
Amen.
Original reads: O God, you alone are holy, by your grace you purify the unholy. Cleanse us from every spot of sin, so that, justified by you, our names may be written in heaven; through Jesus Christ, our most blessed Lord and Savior. Amen.

O God,
your angels always enjoy your peace,
and you also share your peace with us.
In our time on earth, lead us in the way of peace,
and give us complete peace
in our inheritance in your kingdom;
through your Son,
Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
three persons, but one God,
enlighten our hearts and minds,
make us steadfast in the true faith,
equip us for good works,
and bring us to life eternal;
through your mercy, O our God,
you are blessed,
and live and govern all things,
now and forever.
Amen.
O God,
at this time, you sent your Holy Spirit on your apostles,
and clothed them with power from on high.
Grant that the same blessed Spirit,
working in and through the ministers of your Church,
may make the Word preached and the sacraments administered by them
effectual to the salvation of many souls;
through your mercy and for the sake of Jesus Christ,
your Son, our Savior.
Amen.
O Holy Spirit,
on Pentecost you descended on the apostles as tongues of fire.
Take away all vices from our hearts,
and fill us with all wisdom
and spiritual understanding;
O blessed Spirit,
with the Father and the Son,
you live and reign,
ever one God,
now and forever.
Amen.
